ZENIBA NOW is a musical storyteller and artscientist from Los Angeles, CA. She wrote the Book & Bars for The Loophole, a new musical written with Jay Adana, which was produced in The Public Theater's Public Studio this winter, she also starred in the piece. She was a 2017 Public Theater Residency Writer for Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs’ #BARS and also their 2018 & 2019 facilitator of Vocal Direction. She is a 2019 Dramatist Guild Foundation Fellow for Musical Theater, 2019 SPACE on Ryder Farm Resident, and a 2016 Independent Film School Fellow. She has a B.F.A in Musical Theater with an emphasis in Direction from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee School of Music. Her continued studies in The Politics of Trauma, Undoing Racism, and Embodied Research from Urban Bush Women Summer Leadership Institute and NYU Gallatin Graduate coursework help her navigate the responsibility of broaching topics of oppression with the intention of healing. @ZenibaNow
JAY ADANA is a west coast transplant and multi-hyphenate artist based in Brooklyn. Composer/Lyricist: The Loophole (Public Theater Studio), The Woodsman (New World Stages, lyrics), The Last Tiger in Haiti (Berkeley Rep/La Jolla Playhouse), Fingerpaintings (Playwrights Horizons Downtown), and Joe’s Pub. 2018 Jonathan Larson Award, 2019 Dramatist Guild Foundation Fellow. Work has been featured by PBS, The American Theater Wing, and The Dramatist Magazine.
